Just out and about at the marina in San Diego a few months ago. Any thoughts on how I can improve this?

Definitely too much contrast. Otherwise, some things to try, that might make a difference or might not:

Different time of the day, when the sun is a little higher.

Position camera further to the left, and switch to a vertical frame.

Zoom sightly wider.

Crop a little of the right side off.

The wooden dory at the left bottom corner is good enough for a closeup study of its own. :thumbsup:

Awesome! Thanks for the feedback. At the time I took the photo I didn't notice the little one. But when I loaded the photo to my computer I saw it and was thinking how cool it was and how I wished I could go back and shoot it! But sadly, it's now about 550 miles away.

I would crop from the right side of the post and make this shot vertical. This would
"Unclutter" the sight. To many boats and stuff on the pics... You have to be a bit more selective to help the viewer find out what you wanted to show them.
