Lighting?

This was for a Lighting assignment: I had to use natural window lighting.
All comments welcome, please give advice, not just judgements.

Very nice effect, love the softness, I usually like more contrast with B&W but this is nice...:beerbang:

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

My personal opinion....nice photo but i think it should have been in color, (unless you were told to do it in black&white as flowers are nice colors) try rotating the flowers so can see inside the flower head, and use various angles to try different variations of lighting.

I agree that there could be a lighting issue here. But instead of using a reflector for fill, I would relocate the camera more to the side. So the window does not backlight the flower. A shot that has the subject about half lit, and half in shadow, is more what the window treatment is about. Too much fill and the natural charm of window lighting can be washed away.

Thank you for all the advice, I mainly wanted to get the light shining through the flowers leaves to get some texture. I liked the photo in color as well, but I am a huge sucker for black and white photography.:woohoo:

Again thank you, I will try the advice given. :)

Erica black and white is a superb choice for me but this looks a tad underexposed, if you shot in raw then try lifting the exposure.

I agree with the comments above. I would have changed the shooting angle a bit more as well, to get more of the flower. Also would have liked to see the entire flower and not have it cut off at the top.

Nice shot though, anyway... :judge:
