HDR

I know some people do not like the HDR look. I for one do. Is this too much or just right. Be kind please.

HDR looks natural enough. A bit of haloing around the trees.

Composition could do with a little work though. Kinda messy in the background and the topic isn't really clear. It looks like a picture of a tomb + statue + fence + wall + tree + another tree if you know what I mean.

Also I'd like to see the unedited photo. A lot of the time you don't really need HDR because RAW files have enough data in them.

Caveat: I am not a fan of most HDR.

Technical: the granite, marble and wall all look good and very natural. The trees in the background come off fuzzy. So somewhat successful, IMO.

Aesthetic: :agree: Not sure what we're supposed to be looking at.

I haven't see many HDR photos that seem enhanced by the technique; I think it tends to be an artificial look that sort of resembles an oil painting but not really - it might be the type of technique that's better when used sparingly, maybe for certain images this sort of effect could be used in a creative way.

With this composition I might have taken more than one photo, varying the vantage point. I wonder how this subject would look stepping back a little, or standing so that you still get the angel at an angle but showed more of the stone wall and rusty fence which have interesting patterns to them. The bush etc. to the left isn't exactly helping your picture; I probably would have tried to get that 'out' of the photo by shooting from a different vantage point.

Even just covering up the left edge of the picture I notice it gets rid of the bush and cleans up the background just enough to bring more attention to the angel. It would cut off the left side of the obelisk/tomb but that might actually help it to frame the angel a bit. There are various ways you could probably have framed it or could crop it and see what looks best.
