Captain America Throwing His Shield...

11 years 7 months ago #252925 by Joiemagic
Experimenting with ways to recreate a poster of Captain America as he flings his shield. This was my first attempt where I attached a clip to the back of his shield and held it in place as I shot the photo (Photoshopped out later). Took me numerous shots to get these being I was handholding the shield and was moving it around to get the placement right. Still needs a bit of work.

Feel free to comment as always...

It'd be really cool if you could find a way to attach the shield to something that spins, and then capture that motion blur in the shot. Probably easier said than done though...

Maybe also play around with focusing on the shield - especially if you do find a way to get it spinning.

Thanks Meyer, was thinking about how I can do that. I know that is the only thing missing from this image. the rotation of shield... Didn't think about focusing on the shield though... If I get the spinning down, I will definitely try that...

That is cool! What about attaching the shield to a pinwheel hub then cloning the stick out??

Don't pi$$ me off, I am running out of room to store the bodies...

OK, attached his shield to a power screwdriver to get the spinning motion. The speedlite still froze the star in the exposure but you can see a partial blur. From these shots, I created two movie style posters for the sequel tothe first Captain America movie. The sequel is due out on April 4, 2014.

And a non-movie poster. Shield not spinning here...

Yes, I know I can do it in Photoshop... I am just trying to be different and limit the use of PS in this case... Thanks for the thought though...
