Same building day and night...

This is my first post on this forum and I go straight for the critique. I am fairly new at photography so let me have it, I can use all the tips and advice i can get.
My sister spent a night in the hospital this week and I was with her for support. I took along the camera just for fun and captured these shots.

I hope your sister is OK :)

With regards to your photos. If you want to learn you will consider my points :)
1. 50/50 horizon line - bad idea,
2. no real point of interest (but I see at least one - ambulance - great candidate for light trails),
3. nigh shot underexposed - was there any sky up there or just the black hole? :)
4. both pictures need perspective correction - especially 1st one - all buildings are leaning to the center of the frame

Look for different camera angles and perspective: put your camera on the ground, try from knee level, hip level, lamp post or tree level :) Experiment :) Don't be afraid to set your exposure for a bit (or much) longer than you usually would (especially at night) to show us stars, clouds movement etc.

P.S. And stay away from the Auto mode if your camera allows you to :)
