How could I make this more dramatic?

I would return at another time of day, perhaps in the morning or nearing a sunset time, so the "Golden hour" Pair that up with some creative use of the flash, using the light fall-off technique. Because in this scene it looks like it was shot around midday the lighting is harsh and the shadows aren't very pleasing. Another well used technique is to get closer to your subject, so you could use a wide-angle lens and get much closer to the subject, it may add another level of drama. Also use lines in the shot to attract the eye or keep the photo level. In the photo below you can see the frame of the swing set is slightly off-centered, by centering it, you'll create a more pleasing shot. One more great tip is to really walk around, look at every single angle and every single view you can create to find the shot that pleases you the most

As always, any of the rules or methods I've stated above are meant to be broken, that's the beauty of photography! Enjoy getting a really nice photo. I can see the potential!

The tree's in the background are going to make it tough.  Perhaps getting lower to the ground looking up.  I suspect angle of perception will play an important role in this shot.  Do you have any other shots of this scene you can share?

I have an idea.  Right now the big question is the background.  Why not come back at night and do some light painting.  That why you control what is in the frame.

Thank you! I was there on a bright afternoon, and don't really care for the shadows either. I'll try returning at dusk. I want to get a shot that kind of says childhood lost or abandoned.
