May I encourage you to experiment? That's one of my favorite ways of learning. If you use Photoshop,you can try one image as background( change to Layer0), and put the second one as a layer above it, with a black mask. The paint in with a brush with white as background color the portion of the image you want to combine with the one below. Crude, but will give you an idea of what the image might look like.
