30 second exposure of ocean and pier with 50mm f/1.4

12 years 8 months ago #136318 by Alex
So my family and I were down tooling around on the beach near the pier Saturday night. My mother and I had our camera's out taking photos of the lightning going on. My main camera was on my only tripod I had brought with me, so I just set my D90 with a 50 f/1.4 on my camera bag and played around with long shutter exposures of the pier. Even with a small camera and lens the wind was putting slight movement on my set up. Out of 8 shots, this one had the least camera movement and didn't turn out to bad.

The shot had a 30 second exposure, ISO I believe was at 200 and honestly I can't remember where I had the aperture. I played around with the shot in Photoshop and here you go:

Very nice, Alex.

Check the EXIF of the original for the settings. You've cleared them off this one.

Thanks Matthew, just being lazy  I'm going to install Lightroom on this computer later today. That will make it much easier for me to have access to the EXIF data.

Works well for examining other peoples' EXIF.

Pointless program.

You can see EXIF data (inc GPS data) using Preview.

Just go to the tools menu and click on "Show inspector" or just click Command (⌘)+I

It's but one click less, is all. I can drag a pic from the browser window to its icon in the dock.

Viola! EXIF info.

One more program on the computer too. Plus there's the downloading etc. etc. why waste computer resources just to save a few clicks?

It's a tiny little app, with very few resources used. You should try it! :)

Nah, I prefer the free plugin I have for Safari.
phriedrich.de/?module=projects&options=v...05.xml&title=ExifExt

All I need is a right click and I get the exif info.
