Former East-German Border Crossing

Hi Sharon,
thank you for your comment and your nice words! :) I would find it amazing too imagine to have roots on an other continent and I can trace these roots back in history. Sounds really interesting to me.
I suppose you meant the town called Hameln, didn´t you? Well, Hameln is about 80 miles away to the west from the city where I live, called Braunschweig. This city is about 30 miles away to the former east-german border.
I know Voigtländer very well, as the Voigtländer-Company was located in Braunschweig! ;) My father used to work there before they closed in the beginning of the 1970´s. You see, Voigtländer is a traditionell name and the cameras were famous for the quality.
Well Sharon, I am glad you like my photos, so there will be more soon ;)

Yes I did mean Hameln. It's too bad we lost touch w/our cousin, it was amazing to have my great-grandfather's brother's family in Germany find us. Like a lot of people, he came here back in the day and his descendents probably never knew a lot about the family history.

Braunschweig, sure, I read that and started thinking, what camera do I have w/that city's name on it? - yeah, the Voigtlander! My best friend has her dad's Brillant twin lens camera. Mostly the older cameras I have are Kodaks, guess those were so common here.

Your photos are a fascinating view of history. Will look forward to seeing more.

Thank you for your nice comment sharon  I think it is just incredible imagine the way your Voigtlander-camera has gone :-)
Yes it is a shame that you´ve lost contact to your cousin. Especially in these times when it is so simple to stay in contact via email, skype and so on! :(
There will be more soon ;)
