Located on the Upper East Side of the park. Was there for my best friend's wedding (not the movie :P ) This was just before she arrived...

Nice photos, the first one looks a tad flat and the sky is washed out, not a lot you can do about skies unless you drop a better one in, I make a habit of photographing lots of skies now and keep them in a folder ready to use.

Yeah, that was the one thing about that day... beautiful day, slightly cloudy with the sun breaking through off and on....

Hmmmm, never thought about that one.... and I do have lots of sky photos of all types... so guess I got a good start....

Another comment about the first shot.... this kind of composition gains a lot of strength from symmetry. It looks like you were standing one or two steps to the right of center here. When you do that and point at the central feature (fountain), you'll get what you see here - the right side of the image "lower" than the left. Take a look at the hedges at the extreme left and right, and you'll see that they don't line up. Same with the hedge in the foreground - it's falling off to the right. (It might also have made for a stronger composition if you'd taken a couple of steps forward to eliminate that hedge.)

It's a tough thing about these symmetry shots - they're perfect, or they're just not right.

Of the three, I'm liking the last shot the most. The symmetry is closest to perfect, and the tonal range is good.

I agree with John (longtallm). I've had too many of these types of shots where I just wasn't shooting from the right location - sometimes off by just a step or two. But that is enough to throw off the whole image for me.

The second and third images are both much better. One thing I'd like in the third is more space below the fountain. At least enough to show the whole brick border around it that's visible on the sides.

I think you have some nice photos here, and they also supply you with a couple of lessons to make your next batch even better :)

I didn't even notice the slight angle in the shot... I see what you are saying about being slightly off. Thanks. Now, here are some adjustments...

#1 - Slight crop and straightened.

#2 - Brightened up a bit.
