The answer to that should be obvious.

I guess I'll have to find a spot where the land isn't crooked.

I want a good wide angle lens and more money for photo trips.

I've been here for over 13 years with only a few small earthquakes. I don't even want to think about a big one. Not to mention the huge volcano in Yellowstone. :(

Thanks for all the great info. I appreciate it very much. Focusing 1/3 of the way in sounds much easier than trying to figure out HFD. Thanks also for giving me an idea on where I should have focused for the landscape shots. It sounds like you had a good teacher. I would love to go to photography school but I can't afford it just yet. Maybe for Christmas if I'm lucky. :)

I'm posting the originals here so you can see what I did when I worked on them in Elements 9.

There is a very faint amber tint. Most conspicuous in the bottom pic of your set in the OP. If your sharpness problem is when pixel peeping, then it isn't really a problem. So long as the sharpness setting within the camera's Picture Control / Style is set low, expect slightly soft edges when pixel peeping. The sharpness of the final output image should be what counts, not pixel peeping.

The highest percentage I view my photos at is 50%. I do try to avoid pixel peeping. My photos just aren't as sharp or clear as others I see here and other places on the net. :S My photos tend to look better if I took them during the day but my evening photos suffer from either my in camera settings or my technique. Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my questions.
