San Diego from the Ocean side

12 years 6 months ago #156904 by ClickAPic
This picture was taken from a boat off the coast of San Diego. The ocean was very choppy so there was no way to avoid some motion blur. I tried to sharpen it up a bit in Photoshop, what do you think?

The sharpening might be a tad much, but nicely composed cityscape! :judge:

I think shots like this are interesting because I see a lot more shots of the water from the land, or land across the water from another part of land. Shooting the land from the water is a nice perspective.

A polarizing filter might have perked up that sky. But there are no guarantees.

I think the picture turned out to be OK.

I have a lot of similar pictures and I've been doing a lot of cropping with very pleasing effects.
I would take out the ocean and some of the sky.

Rob.

Thank you all for your input! Often, our sky is just plain blue, one of the perks of living in SD but I do agree it is top heavy with blue. I am going to try to soften the sharpness a bit and I'll do some cropping.

That might work but I think I am going to go with removing the ocean and the sky so I have just the city. I'll post it when I finished and you can let me know your thoughts. Thank you for the kind offer. I may take you up on it if I don't like the way it turns out.

Kind of defeats the point of the "ocean side" part of the topic. Perhaps if you had a boat or something in the foreground it would be more dynamic, then you could keep the ocean in your ocean side scene.
