dirty beaches

one of this things i don't like about vancouver is how much stuff washes up on the beaches. so when i'm trying to take a shot that nice and minimalist, theres just a whole lot of shells and seaweed and rocks and dog footprints everywhere!

i would love some c&c on this shot.

is the stuff on the beach just to distracting? i did love love the sky that night, and i do like the shell in the foreground, but i'm just not sure if the rest is distracting.

When you said dirty beaches I am thinking of bottles, trash and junk. Don't think this is dirt, but I see what you mean about being a distraction. If you were to crop the bottom 25% may help... The sky is awesome :beerbang:

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

Yeah, there's just too much of the stuff, imo. Have you tried removing some of it in post? It might be too much to do.

The stuff appears to lie in a line, which suggests that's where the tide deposited it. Seems it might have been possible to shoot from either the left or right of it and at least minimize, if not avoid, the problem?

Great sky though! :)

Is that a riddle? ... or a clue?

I love the sky and like the shells in the foreground, but the middle looks somewhat cluttered with the debris. But looking at the photo on your Flickr page, the color and sharpness looks better and I like it better on there - the foreground especially seems sharper and I noticed more how much the shells and shards all reflect the blues and reds/magentas in the sky. And the Flickr page with black background makes it pop more I think, maybe it would look good with a black mat/frame.
