Moe, Yeah, I think so. I usually don't go for these "artsy" type of effects, but I just thought I'd give it a shot. But I probably won't be doing it again anytime soon though.

I think you must ask for a poll.
I do not like it, but I do not like any filters.
HDR overused makes my stomach turn.
I do not know why.

Ok - so I don't mind this at all, and kind of like the artistic approach. The only part that throws me off is the top left part of the photo with the sky. The brush pattern doesn't seem to match the rest of the photo and for me, stands out.

I rather like the result, and especially the colors. I, too, would like to see the original.

For me I wouldl lose the boats. The bird and rocks are the subject to my eye. Also, I'd lose the land and sky in the upper left. If you can find a sky with clouds , I'd bring that in to provide some texture up there. It's kinda bland.

I would also suggest some work with exposure to bring the attention to what you want (which is a general comment and has nothing to do the the painterly effect).

It does look good I'll admit and I'd like it if it were a real painting, but generally I don't like "Art" effects.

I was thinking the same, plus the horizon looks a tad off. Great job to the OP!

I'm in the same boat with you, change the top right, and it would work for me

Works pretty well but you need to brush back in some detail on the boat. A solid blob doesn't work. You either need to take it out like Hook said and add some of the details of it back in. I would do away with the blob on the right side of the boat whatever it is. If it's another boat, it needs to go anyway. Odd numbers work better.
