CC: I Can't Decide

Captured this while out hiking at Georgia O'Keefe's ranch in Abiquiu, NM. I can't decide which I prefer. Thoughts?

I like natural (looking) colours. Therefore the second one.
I do not mind a push for warmer, but rather yellow than magenta.

First one highlights the sky, the 2nd on highlight the rocks.  It depends on which you are trying to emphasis.  I like the second one best.

I'm going to be different. I like the second for Hassner's reasons, more natural sky....
(Why did I leave the southwest... )

Why so serious?

I'm always a sucker for low key, so I much prefer the deep shadows in #1.  In #2 the sky looks washed out to me.

I like the feeling of the first that seems a bit more dark or foreboding like a storm getting ready to roll in. But my first thought was too purple; that stands out and seems somewhat overpowering.

When I first saw it, it struck me that I could reach out and touch it. Beautifully done in that respect. I think that perspective works well.

I wonder what you saw, what the color was actually like. With nature that's already striking I think subtle adjustments would enhance it without being too much.

Even the second one is a bit purplish. A blue sky and orangish tone of the ground would be complementary colors and help the colors pop.

#1 has to much of magenta filter going on for me.  #2 is nothing short of awesome.  Really #2 is wall material!

Seriously, #2 is an incredible shot.  I like the lighting, and contrast in that scenery.

Hey Gary,
The second one is amazing, as for the first like others have said too much red. Nicely done nonetheless.

Thanks all for the input. I am happy with the 2nd, but still wanted a different take on the image. So I went back to take another run at the toned version. Comments on this version appreciated.

Dunno.  The extra contrast does result in more drama, but at some cost to authenticity (in my view).  The new color tints are a definite improvement.

I like the last version, but I have a few other nitpicks.
The horison line on the left suggests the photo is angled.
The spot of sky top right through the rocks adds unneeded detail. I would remove.
I like the added contrast. As long as I can see detail in highlights and shadows.
