Now as Then

14th century street in Volterra, Italy. I thought the barrel distortion of the 14mm enhanced the composition, but I leave it to you: first with distortion, second corrected. What do you think?

Call me green (which I am), I don't see any difference from the top to bottom.  I do like the shot though.  I has a very old school charm to it.

But there IS one as John says… mind you, in this example, it
is not so pronounced as it is seen sometimes.

Light is free… capturing it is not!

Right. The great quality of the Nikon 14-24mmf/2.8 didn't require much much correction. But I think I like the "distorted" effect

… you mean the barrel effect?

That lens is one of the cornerstones in my bag! :P

I like the first shot. The distortion is creating a nice motion in the line.

Perfect camera position, I'm a fan.  Second shot looks improved.

The second shot is a good edit but it's a bit flat to me. The distortion is creating a good movement in the path. I like it better.

Thanks! How would you say the second is improved? I tend to prefer the first, so, would love to hear.:)

My thoughts as well. Thanks!

I think what she meant with that is it looks more natural because there is no longer distortion in the ground. Just a wild guess.
