Aramac, Queensland and their Sculpture Trail

G'day all

This tiny town north of Barcaldine and 800km inland from Brisbane, the state's capital, has a local artist who has created many quite interesting sculptures from junk retrieved from local rubbish dumps

She has now placed about 50 items along local roads, and the tourism people are now including these into brochures etc. We did the tour during July and took 2-1/2 days to cover the 200km (going slowly and stopping overnight way out in the bush to enjoy the quiet and the stars)

Here's a glimpse of a number of the sculptures

1)- Drover and dog

The creativity of some people is just amazing. Great shot too. Do you have a frontal view of the dude on the horse? Would've liked to see the facial features of the guy, horse and dog.

G'day mate

You've asked for more about the Drover  ...
Here's the Drover + the Bronco Rider + the Cowgirl
All have been shot using flash to try to lighten the shadows

Considering that each is made from junk-yard scraps plus "miles" of disused & rusty fencing wire, the artist has created some magnificent sculptures

Hi Dave

Yep - they were very interesting to discover along the way, and the creativity of the author / sculptress is on show and accolades are well deserved

Should you manage to get up this way, here's where it is ...
