ED= Extra-low Dispersion Glass It is used to keep the red and blues in focus.
IF= Internal Focus What IF does is keeps the lens from moving forward and back to focus, there are small menses inside that shift to aquire focus.
HSM= Hyper-Sonic Motor Which is the name for their lenses focusing motor.
APO=Apochromatic lens An apochromatic lens is a lens system corrects through using different glas types to get rid of chromatic abberations, which look like a rainbow on photos. You control the fringing by grinding the glass at a given curvature on Crown, Flint and other thypes of glass because they all refract light differently.
DG and DC= Lenses specially made for digital. It is merely their designation for them. The DGs are for Full Frame cameras the D3,700 and so on.

I just looked it up, "EX" is Sigma's acronym for "Excellence" to denote their high-end line, while "DL" is their acronym for "Deluxe" which denotes their low-end lenses. Don't know what that dash and letter "M" stands for though.
