The longest non-Cassegrain type prime lens I've owned is a 1000mm Pentax SMC Takumar I got from Ebay a while back. Unfortunately I only owned it for a day because it came with a cracked element. :angry: Returned and refunded...


LOL OK so the longest focal length I've owned is 200mm.

I want to get longer but can't afford it. Which is why I got a x1.7 extender. :p

Have you considered a Tamron adapt-all 300mm f2.8 lens? It's just as sharp as the Nikon models @2.8 (maybe better even?). A tad more CA, but the bokeh is out of this world. All it's missing is autofocus. Goes for around 900 bucks for a mint used copy.

Oh yeah, who needs AF?! :whistle: :P

I think I'd rather have a 300 f/4 for a bit more and keep the AF. The 2.8 is tempting, but by AF skills aren't that great. Your samples are great though. :D
