How about the 70-200mm f/2.8 Tamron lens?

I can't afford the 70-200mm from Nikon and would like to get this focal length with the 2.8. The Tamron seems to be pretty well priced around $730.

Does anyone know anything about this lens? What differences will I see from the Nikon version? How does this lens compare to the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8?

You can find an IQ resolution test and user reviews to compare here:

Tamron 70-200 appears to have great image quality. However, it's not built ruggedly, has slow autofocus, no VR. Still, at 700 dollars it's a super value.

Oh thank you so much! Yeah I really like the price points of their lenses. I did see the company has one a number of awards for their lenses. So they can't be that bad :)

Tamron is a very good brand, they have won some awards for their various lenses. I'm not sure where they are made, but would guess in Asia some where.

My Tamron was made in Japan.

Tamron makes good pro lenses but if you look around you may be able to find a used Nikon for around the same price
