Question about Neutral Density filter

Any of you have experience with the Light Craft "Fader ND Ultra"? This filter is offered from 9 to 12 stops! thats dark! It had me thinking as I know B+W has a 10 stop, Lee has a 10 stop and this filter is 2 stops darker.

Those higher densities would be special purpose as in photographing the sun maybe?

The use of ND filters is to allow for larger lens openings and therefore smaller depth of field.

As in photographing a flower outside in bright sunlight where the exposure is say 200th of sec at F11 with ISO 100.

Add a three stop ND filter and you are down to F4, and depending on lens focal length your depth of filed will shrink dramatically

Well I have never heard of them. I prefer to stack filters, which is why I use gels for this. I cant see using the 12 stop much, I would rather use the Singh-Ray Vari-ND because it goes from 2 stops to 8 and if you need more then you can hold a square over it. I would tray and see if there are any independent reviews of it myself.

Can't you loose clarity when stacking filters?

I never have. If they are crappy filters then I inagine you can but, if you use quality then it is never a problem. All you are doing is blocking the light to get slower shutter speeds.
