Tokina vs Tamron

13 years 1 week ago #46174 by JB
I have a project were I'm going to be photographing cars with with a automotive photography rig. I'm playing it safe and picked up a used Canon 60D and now I'm looking for a good wide angle that isn't going to break the bank. I don't want to use my main camera and nice lenses in case the camera falls! Both Tamron and Tokina have wide angle lens that seemed to be priced fairly. My question is which give a sharper image?

Thanks

Err, there are lots of sites that test lenses. Just Google "lens review" plus the name and focal length of interest. Anywhoo, Tokina would be my preference, but take that with a grain of salt.

Both are good lenses, however the Tokina is a smaller company and I do believe they have a slightly higher quality lens.

I would just buy some used lenses for a project like that

If you cant afford new canon lenses then look for some second hand ones first, if you are going down the route of Tokina/tamron then there really isnt a great deal of difference, have you considered Sigma they make some great lenses at much cheaper prices than Canon

:iagree: I so agree on this one, if there is chance of these falling, I would buy used.
