Polarized Filter...when to use?

What are the basic set of conditions for which you would want to use a polarized filter? I'm guessing outdoors on a sunny day?

It will help you cut through haze. Also control reflections in water. Glare.

I use a polarizing filter when I want to remove glare, and I'm able to use the polarizer correctly. Sometimes the camera angle and the angle of the sun aren't right to get the polarizing effect or causes the effect to be stronger on one side than the other. In general glare makes colors appear somewhat desaturated, so if I'm shooting color I'm probably considering using a polarizer. I just have to weigh the requirements of using the filter correctly vs how much difference it's going to make. Outdoors in the daytime it usually makes a significant difference whether sunny or overcast. Anytime I'm shooting a scene where plants are a major part I'm thinking about using a polarizer. The effect can be subtle through the viewfinder or on the LCD, but foliage still shows a lot of glare on overcast days, and the pol really helps get the rich, lush green I'm looking for, rather than the bluish, washed out look it can have when reflecting the sky.
