I'm looking for a good portrait lens. Anyone have any experience with this lens?

I don't have this lens, but slrgear.com posted an indepth review with user reviews here:

www.slrgear.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/49/cat/all

A quick browse through the user reviews show a mixed bag. There seems to be some bad copies of this lens produced, but the good copies perform well.

My opinion is that for the price this is a decent all-around zoom lens, and at an equivalent focal length of around 115mm on a cropframe sensor, it will give decent portraits. It's a jack of all trades, master of none. If you already have a zoom lens in this range however, I'd look into an 85mm f1.8 lens for dedicated portrait use. It's the same price point, but will give even better results.
