Wireless triggering module in light meters?

13 years 2 months ago #26465 by Todd Phillips
I'm looking at picking up a light meter and obviously there are so many to pick from. These days there are so many options on these buggers. Like the Sekonic 758C that is good for ambient and flash light WITH optional radio triggering. So can I assume this will communicate with the camera with the right settings it recommends?

You mean like it will set the readings into your camera for you? That is a little too much AI for me, I gotta be there for something...

Sounds like it has a wireless remote so that you can place it on a tripod & trip it to do a light reading on the same location as you set or move the light sources to get the reading needed for the shoot

A cheaper (and simpler to use) alternative is the Sekonic L-358. It will do all you need and you can add spot ability to it later. The wireless "module" doesn't set your camera, but wirelessly triggers the strobe attached to a Pocket Wizard. Some new lights have wireless ability built in.

The meter tells you which f/stop to use, which is easy to set. Your shutter speed can be anything at or below the camera's sync speed.
