What softbox sizes do you own?

I'm just curious what size and shape are the most wildly used soft boxes?

I just got some extra cash and will be expanding some of might lighting equipment.

I do not have any softboxes, you might google shopping on the subject and find out what is out there...

The only difference between round (or an octagon) and square (or a rectangle) is the shape of the catchlights. The larger it is, the softer the light will be. You can also turn a rectangle sideways to make it a softer light.

The classic single light set up aims the light across the front of the subject directly at the reflector used for fill. This "feathers" the light slightly, though not as much as when using spots. You want the light to be as close in as possible, just to the edge of your frame.

For fashion a smaller light is used (ex. a "beauty dish") that creates a harsher light. It requires a pretty face with good makeup.

Most will buy the largest they can fit in their studio and still move it around easily. Not everyone looks good with a beauty dish. ;)

Good information, would you say a 36 to 40" would be a good all around to get a full body shot?
