Araneus, aka, orb-weaver spider. Beautiful specimen. I'll commend you on your bravery as well lol. I try to get along with them, I don't harm them, but spiders scare me. This one is harmless but I suffered a Brown Recluse bite that was less than harmless.

Bravery? No way.. this was terrifying, especially cos I have to get so close with the macro lens. Been bitten three times before, once here in Europe and twice in Africa. Still have the scars. :(

G'day mate

In Australia we also have very similar-looking spiders .. the Nephila is called the golden orb spider as the web shines with a beaut golden colour when in sunlight

As to your pic - yes beaut sharpness is there, and it's always hard as the spider / web moves slightly in the breeze which always seems to be present

fwiw ... Using a fixed-lens superzoom all the time, I "cheat" with my macros via using a screw-in Close-up lens onto the filter threads ... and a +3 dioptre lens changes the camera focus to 1/3-metre / 1-foot for you US fellers. It means that I can then use 200-300-400mm of zoom to get a beaut large image, but the front of the camera lens always stays 1-foot from the spider's web. "reel-bewt mate"
