Noob here - Macro problem

13 years 2 months ago #36202 by spoolinsnail
Hi, pretty much new here. Bought this 400D yesterday and I just noticed the Macro setting on the lens. As I try and push it down (it slides like the AF/MF button) it wont budge. Someone suggested that it might be jammed. How do I go about checking? Thanks.

Which lens is it, some lenses require to be fully extended in order to activate the Macro switch others will require only between certain focal length's. IE the Sigma 70-300 requires that the lens be between 200 and 300 to set the macro.

Give that a try.

If you are to be happy with your results, you will need a dedicated macro lens, and Canon makes a few that are exceptional.....B)

Why so serious?

I've yet to run into a true macro lens that doesn't deliver good results. They are designed to deliver at the close focus distances & if you post a question on most forums looking for suggestions , everyone & their brother will recommend whichever lens it is that they have, which proves my point...Be more concerned with what focal length to go with as it will determine how much working distance you will have ( & that can be a factor depending on your subject matter)
The zoom that the OP has likely isn't a true macro but may deliver acceptable results for some people.
