Shutter speed to slow and not in focus.... DOF is great.

You will not be judged as a photographer by the pictures you take, but by the pictures you show.

That's as close as you can get? The lens is racked out to 105?

The interesting thing in this photo are the flowers. But they are too small. You really want one of them to fill the frame with a dark background.

Maybe use an off camera flash? That would help darken the background. Your current background is nicely blurred, but it is still distracting. I would try to use a flash, or maybe a black backdrop to make the background black.

But you really need to figure out how to focus on one or just a few flowers and fill the frame with them.

Just my two cents.

Thanks Matt/Darrell,

The only digital kit i have at the moment is the D90 and 18-105 lens, the closest that the lens will focus is 15" i think. At the moment i dont have the money for more lenses or off-camera flash, The iso was 400. I think the flowers look over exposed? I dont know if to get close up filters or save for a 18-55 lens to get in closer? Whats the recommendations?

Your exposure is out of kilter they are overexposed also those bright highlights at the top are very distracting, yes DoF is good but as has been said not close enough in Lee, I bought some extension tubes on Amazon for £9-00 they aint great as they dont sync with the lens and camera so just manual, but I can get so much closer.

Nice effort and good when you can recognise your own faults.

if you increase the shutter speed you flowers will not be as over exposed... and this will freeze the flowers in position if they are moving. and as Matt says focus on one or two flowers. Have fun...
