some great captures, the gorilla pictures are a bit lost in the background, which is a real pity, were they taken through glass?

Nice shots! Zoos are wonderful shooting grounds...good for observing both wild-ish animals and human animals.

When you go specifically to take photos, do you go alone? or have you some patient soul who accompanies you?

This was an Photo Shoot with the B&H Photo Event Space crew. They had photographer David Cardinal on hand to give some advice on how to best capture the wildlife. I wound up by myself for most of the event once we started shooting but that was OK, cause I didn't have to compete for space to shoot for the most part.

Haven't been to the zoo in a number of years, at least 10, so this is not a regular outing for me, but I think I will try to get there a bit more often... It is a great place to work on your overall skills.

Most of my shots were shot manual focus. Lens needs to be sent for repairs, Auto Focus not working at distances but Manual does. Being I am saving for a new camera, I have been holding off on sending it out.
