A herd of gazelle spent the night just around 20 ft from the camp, it was a great opportunity to get some close up shots

I hope, someday, to have the opportunity to get close to animals such as this.

The crop on this just ruins it for me, unfortunately. I want to see the horns in their entirety, or a close-up of the face that eliminates them completely. Having just part of the horns, and the shoulders, just doesn't work for me.

On the positive side, beautiful color and nice and sharp. Love the rim light on the muzzle!

Horns are the crowning glory of gazelles. You should have not missed it. Do you also have shots with wide lens?

I sure do, after shooting hundreds over the years I tend to look for something a little different from the usual now, a bit more challenging than what most photographers shoot.  I still shoot the usual head full horn images as well of course, here are a couple of my favorite.
The last image is a scan from a cover I shot in 1985 one of my first published images taken on a hasselblad with a 250mm lens its hard to tell from the scan but the original had an almost 3D feel about it

Nice photo's! One of my brother's went to Africa last July for three weeks, took his son and son's wife. spent three weeks and his son got something like 15,000 photo's. He used a Canon 1DX and rented a 500mm lens. Someday I'd like to do that but awfully expensive, I doubt I'll ever be able to afford it. What a great place to photograph animals!

thanks! pricing depends on the experience you want, the cheaper tours will cram you in with other guests who are less 'photographically' minded, and add extras like park fees later on,  I limit each vehicle to 2 photographers, keep the group small and have some great long time local contacts so we manage to keep the pricing below our competition.

Your tour is the type he went on. He love's them and I suspect he'll go back every years now. If I never make it it will be the biggest disappointment of my life. Africa is not a place, it's an experience!
