Shot on a broad leaf on in my patio garden, the back light created an unusual atmosphere for me.

Thank you Kyle,
we managed to stack several exposures on the front end of the shell and Gecko to slightly extend the dof

What was he doing with the shell? And were you very close? Depth of field looks shallow for F 10.

Yes he was only two inches long so to get him bigger in the frame we needed the 105mm macro lens close up, Dof is always gonna be shallow which is why we had to exposure stack the first bit :-)

Helpful explanation. Is he a pet?

No he´s one of six or seven that live in and around the house, they are all quite friendly, we have one always in the shower room, never moves..
They eat all the flies and other pesky bugs so useful to have around, they are very used to people so if we need one to model for an hour they are ok with it.
I have a shot of one riding a moving snail which is pretty cool, always good to push boundaries in art and photography!

Sweet shot, did you use topaz at all for editing?

I have the Topaz and also the Nik suite,
For some portraits i use Topaz clarity on the studio setting for starters as i find it does a great job on skin tones particularly with the orange in the HSL sliders.
The settings in Nik Analogue Efex Pro can get some nice muted retro effects.
For most stuff the curves tool in photoshop gets me where i wanna be :-)
