Zebra Time

Haven't seen this too often. The zebra are hungry for salt and other minerals so lick the soil upturned in the creation of termite mounds (instead of trying to dig up mud themselves)

More like the one zebra is the 'look out' zebra.  Curious, how big are zebras in comparison to a typical horse?  Just thinking, 'do tribes or people ride a zebra like a horse' or are zebras even used to carry cargo, like a mule?

Interesting question Fitch. No they are too wild and never ridden or tamed . When the Europeans settlers colonized africa they were quite excited about using the zebra as replacements for horses given they were more used to the environment. They bred the two resuting in a 'zebroid' I think most of them turned out sterile they basically look like striped horses.

Thank you.  Looking at these photos just got the gears going.  So I wonder if that falls into suit for carrying stuff like a mule?  Of the looks of things, these are just smaller than horses though right?

Speaking of horses, on your tours, are you always in trucks or do you jump on horse back at all?

I think they have more the build of a donkey and height between that and a horse.
You are not allowed to be out of your vehicle in the game parks, except for a a few clearings for meals and other certain times. There is horseback riding (european saddle) at some of the accommodation places but within the safe grounds
