If portraits is not your thing, don't continue with it. Doing a favor for a family member is nice, but if a photographer is not comfortable shooting something, the pictures won't turn out good. Did you charge your neice? At least charge her for the prints? You may be the uncle, but you shouldn't carry all the expense of the senior shoot on your shoulders.
