Can't correctly display personalized background - Who can help?

11 years 5 months ago #259308 by stschemb
Hi there everybody!

I can't get a correct background when I personalize my profile page. No matter what image I choose, I get an enlarged (distorted) result, also seen on many other users' profiles.

Has anybody correctly set his/her own background and how?

Thanks!
Stef

Thanks rtenny
Take a look at my profile picture now, for example.

I have just uploaded some changes. Please try again to edit the uploaded background image.
Sometime the browser caches images you might have to press F5 to see the correct image after the browser has saved the cropped image.

I will see if I can change something so a F5 is not needed.

Thanks rtenny but it seems to be still not working well. Take a look now at my profile's background: do you see it normal or compressed vertically (distorted)?
I see it enlarged...
Also tried with F5 and shift+F5 but still I cannot display the strip correctly.
Also, no matter what I select in my image, the resulting background is a vertically compressed versionof the original.

Strange enough...

You're not the only one Stefano, I had a heckuva time getting a photo on that part of my page and don't remember how I got it to work.

Besides that Ralf I've been having various problems since summer but I don't know if anyone is checking that 'Bugs' thread stickied in the Lounge - I'm going to go post again there so as not to hijack this thread any more than I already have. Thanks.

Have you tried to crop the image again. There was an error before and maybe it has not saved the cropped version.
In you profile click on Change Profile Background. Above the original image click Edit background. You should get a cropping area that you can move up and down to the best location. Then click Save Background. After a short moment the page load again udn you should see the cropped area appear at the top.

Thanks for you patience. I have just done that and it has worked for me. As you can see on my profile.

Yes place any still existing bugs into the sticky thread. I will check that later today.
