Thank you for all the warm welcomes

I chose the Canon 7D for its shutter speed as I will be doing quite a bit of Motorsport photography (action shots & stills) once I return home from work. Although I love shooting various subjects.

I've found this site to be very useful thus far and am picking up a lot of tips as I read through the threads and articles.

Photography I find seems to have a very therapeutic effect for myself. My day job is very stressful and deadline driven, so it is nice that I have found a way to unwind and relax by looking through the lens.

These are probably my two favourite shots so far:

Welcome to the forum. I have to ask why you have the tree in the first photo in the middle of the car? I would have isolated the car myself in the field. My question is more of a curiosity than anything else.

Thanks again for the welcomes.

Hi there GeordieP, I'm in Ormeau myself.

I guess the reason I placed the tree where I did was based on a couple of factors.

I wanted to create a sense of depth to the photograph, tree trunk with the barbed wire in the foreground, car mid, and trees beyond.

The other reason is that there is a sign in the back of the vehicle which I really did not want to show up in this shot. I have other shots taken at the same location where I have kept the sign visible. I was not sure how the shot would come out but overall I am happy with the result.

Here is a post edited one in colour that was taken to the right of the tree that is in my other shot.

Thank you for asking the question though. I have only been using the camera for about a week or so and I am always happy to receive any feedback, and to hear what others may have done differently, so I can get out there, try the shot again and hopefully improve.

Cheers

Aj

Thanks again for the welcome.

If you ever get a chance, you should most definitely visit Australia.

There truly are some amazing landscapes.

I am hoping once I am back home for the xmas break, I will be able to take some time out and shoot some of our coastlines and inland waterfalls.
