Going to the wedding!

9 years 9 months ago #391263 by Georgian-Si-Valentina-Mihaila
Hi guys,

A friend of mine asked me to go to his small wedding next month to take pictures. I am "total rookie" and this is first time I will do this. I am doing this as a friend for free and nobody has any high expectation....except me! I really want to do a decent job and I could use any piece of advice from you. I am watching plenty tutorials and wedding pictures for now.
My camera is Canon 60D,
Two Speedlite flashes, with remote trigger( the church allows flash)
18-55mm Canon EF-S IS lens
55-250mm Canon EF-S IS Lens
50mm, 1.8 Canon prime lens
24mm 2.8 Sigma prime. For now I can only use it only at max F2.8, until I will rechip it!

Best regards,
Giorgio

Three short bits of advice:

1) Do not try to control the entire wedding...it is the brides day. Stay out of her face but close enough to get good candids.

2) If there is an event coordinator, introduce yourself and go over the wedding flow with them. If not, take control of the wedding when you need to get the important shots...vows, kiss, family, portraits, bouquet/garter toss, cake cut, first dance etc...

3) If there is a DJ at the event, make friends with him/her immediately. They can be your best friend or worst enemy when trying to keep things on track.

Most of all have fun and don't be shy.

Thank you, very good advice. What kind of lens should I use?
