Newbie!!!

Ok, Not a real Newbie!! Been lurking for awhile, just getting to know how to navigate this site. Loaded my first Album tonight so I figured it was about time for an introduction!!

I am 53 years young, just getting my groove back as far as taking photos. Was away from this type of art for awhile. Create Stained Glass windows and suncatchers, which I will soon start as a part time business from home. I also foster kitties and own 3 cats, all that were only going to be fostered! You know how that happens, they steal your heart away!

I work full time as a Communications/IT support specialist for a Law Firm in NYC. I like to travel, have visited many US states, but favor the tropics. I go to St. Maarten every April to recharge my batteries.

My husband is an addicted fishermen, so I have to travel to a different state every other year to feed his addiction. Oh the horrors, not really, gives me the chance to visit lovely communities, get some awesome shots and meet great people. That feeds my addiction.

I live as close to the country as I can get without leaving the city area. There are over 110 acres of Parks behind my home. I am blessed to be able to catch some interesting images. We even had deer sightings in this area. First time in over 30 years. They may have swam over from NJ at low tide. Hope to catch shots of them.

I am new to digital. Have always done film, till 2007. I purchased my first digital (Panasonic DMC-FX07) and for the first few months could not get into it.

The Spring of 2008 got me out and about.

Within a few days of playing around and looking thru my photos I started to get a thrill!! Most of my photos are as is, raw, with no enhancement. I started using Picasa to enhance some photos, adding color or cropping. I sold some of my old 35mm equip. in 2008 and purchased a Nikon D300 and a Sigma AF 18-300mm lens. Then I purchased a Nikon 18-55mm and a 55-200mm, boy what fun I am having.

I am thankful for the contacts I have made in my travels. They are encouraging and enjoyable. Comments like this: (I'm so glad you are going forward in your photography, but its not the camera completely, You have a definite talent. The only way to get good at something is to keep doing it!) are what it's all about .

I have grow as an artist with the help and comments and critiques from my many contacts. After several years away from this format I was rusty. Hope you all will continue to inspire me. I look forward to getting more active on this forum, any NY people out there!!! Maybe we can get together for a shoot somewhere.

Regards,

Eileen
