How to take infrared photos with Nikon D300 with out converting to infrared only camera?

I've found some interest in infrared recently and really would like to explore this further. However I don't want to convert my camera to a infrared camera only. So what are the best options?

Do any of those screw on filters work good?

Filters work fine, but they increase exposure time. You need to use a tripod. Other than converting a normal pic in Photoshop, that's what you need to do.....;)

:agree:
Yep the filters do the job somewhat well, they are not usually as dramatic a difference as conversion is, but they hold their own. And as always do not go cheap, cheap equals poor results.

Well this is interesting. I thought you needed to get your camera converted to IR in order to take these types of photos. Would you guys happen to know what filters are needed?

Thanks in advance.

Hoya makes an R72 & there are others. I used that filter on a d70s with good results. Haven't tried it on my D300 though.Newer DSLR's have stronger anti-aliasing filters which make it more difficult to shoot IR images this way...
