Comparing the Nikon D7000 vs the D7500 autofocus

I need a reliable and fast autofocus.  My D7000 is officially ready to retire.  Well it's just not working so well right now.  For the most part the autofocus worked well for me, with the exception of times in lower light the autofocus didn't always get it.  I shoot nature and wildlife, so that autofocus is very important to me.

I was going to move to the next up, the D7100, but see they have the D7500.  So is the D7500 worth paying the higher $$?

If it were me, I'd go with the D7100 and use the money I saved on other gear like lenses. Not enough of an improvement to justify the increased cost of the D7200.

I agree with Scott, my D7100 is my second camera, but I probably use it more than my D800...(lighter). It still has all the pop I need for now.

Hey thanks, I'm actually going to be meeting up with another photographer tomorrow and he has a D7100.  I might just take your advice and save a few bucks and use that towards a new lens.

Are either of you using it a battery grip?

Personally, I don't get battery grips. I don't mind turning the camera and never repositioning my right hand. For the battery, I have a spare, but they last so long now that I rarely have to change out in the field.

If/when I move to a D850, and if I need to shoot sports or some such, I'd get a grip to get the faster frame rate. But even then, it'd have to be worthwhile. If I really needed more FPS, I'd get the D5.

I've never owned a grip, borrowed one a few years back and hated it. Its just me, and Gary is correct about the modern battery, it lasts a long time....
