How to photograph star trails with Nikon D7100?

4 years 11 months ago #643987 by Mark T
Can you help me with how to photograph star trails with a Nikon D7100?  I have a 18-200mm and 50mm lens if it makes any difference.

Particularly what camera settings should I use?

Thank you for the help.

With all due respect, there are lots of tutorials out there, easily found via web search. The first hit I got was here:

You'll also want to research appropriate lenses. The 18-200 might not be sharp enough. The 50 could be used, but is probably too long.

I'm happy to help you.  My brother in law shoots a lot of astrophotography.  Watch out, from what I've noticed with him over the last few years, it's addictive!
