CFExpress firmware update for Nikon D850?

4 years 4 months ago #670570 by Patty Ganahl
OK,  before I get too distracted.  My question I came to ask - can we expect CFExpress support for the Nikon D850 soon?  I saw the release for the Z6 and Z7, hoping the D850 will get some love soon.

Nikon stated, earlier this year, that it would happen. Now we wait.

I bet early 2020 with the new camera announcements Nikon will likely make.

I wonder if such update can be reversible!?!?

Light is free… capturing it is not!

I'd guess yes.

Firmware is not the same as operating system updates. It's comparable to a full reinstall, which you could do on a Mac if you so wished.

You (not you personally, you in general) can find the May 2019 FW update on the Nikon site. If you had a copy of it, and a later FW update was not to your liking, you could always install an earlier image. This is how it works on any device that can be updated: i.e. any device that is essentially a computer. Which includes cameras, digital recorders, even CPUs.
