Object Tracking in the Nikon Zf

3 months 1 day ago #758890 by Monica Lafforgue
I have been playing around with all the tracking modes and autofocus and can't seem to find this feature on my Zf.  Other Nikon cameras can do this, however either this one doesn't have it, or I'm missing this function.

Can you help me please?

I looked into the autofocus features of the Nikon Zf for you. It turns out that the Zf's autofocus system is quite impressive, borrowing algorithms from the Nikon Z8 and Z9. This includes advanced features like Deep Learning subject recognition and 3D tracking capabilities, making it highly capable for focusing on fast-moving action.

Regarding its low-light performance, the Zf is designed to focus in very dim conditions, thanks to its combination of larger AF cells and the EXPEED 7 processor. It can focus from -10 EV with an f/1.2 lens, which is quite impressive. In practical use, it's been noted that there's not much difference in low-light AF sensitivity between the Zf and the more expensive Z9, which is a testament to the Zf's capabilities in this area.

Additionally, the Zf is notable for its ability to detect very small faces in the frame and has a bird's eye detection feature similar to the Z8, but at a more affordable price point. This makes it a viable option for sport and wildlife photography despite not being optimized ergonomically for long telephoto lenses or fast custom controls.

So, it seems like the Nikon Zf is well-equipped with advanced autofocus features, making it a strong contender in its price range. If there's a specific feature you're looking for that I haven't mentioned, please let me know, and I'll do my best to find more information for you.
