suggestions

A good friend of mine always hosts a fantastic Halloween party at his condo. It's elaborately decorated with many different themed sections and it always has proven to be a huge hit among all the various guests over the years. This year, I'd really like to take the images up a notch, perhaps using some edgier lighting to really capture the creepy-yet-fun Halloween mood. I recently sold my D90 body to make funds for the D7000 body I have on pre-order (from Amazon.com; hoping it would arrive before this October 30th party, but I'm not holding my breath). Unless the D7000 arrives in the next two weeks, the camera used for the party will be the D3100. I'll again have the SB-400 and 10-24mm, but I'm considering using a remote flash for some side or low-angle high-key lighting to really make people in their costumes pop. I know the D3100's built-in flash does not have a commander built-in, so it'd be expensive to get an SU-800 in addition to an SB-600 for remote. Any recommendations or suggestions?

I'm guessing you are talking about the SB-800, if that is the case, this flash has been discontinued and was replaced with the SB-900. Considering what you are looking to do with your new camera and photography, I would suggest if you can afford it. Picking up the SB-900 flash unit. This should work for your temporary needs as well as give you to flashes to sync together when you get your new camera.
