HELP selecting a Printer

12 years 10 months ago #89983 by Dondi
Good Evening Good People! Im shopping for a photo printer. A few party promoters offered me to take pictures, but i need a printer for 4x6 or 5x7 I currently have a NikonD3100. i seen printers that are wireless, compact, and regular size. Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Truthfully i trust your opinion, than anyone in a store whos trying to make a sale. Will i need a printer that prints 8x10 just in case? ALso what is the best quality print paper to purchase? Thank you very much for your response. i appreciate it 110%

In that situation I'd use a Dye Sublimation type printer. Does one color at a time, and usually has a protective coat for the finish.

I'm sure there are other solutions as well.

I have an HP J6480 all in one printer and it does a terrific job on pictures. Not too terribly expensive, either. Hope this helps.

An older article, but explains well (with pictures) how dye sub works and why it is a good choice for prints on the spot.

I would also check out the price of the inks for the printers you consider. That makes a huge difference. Photography eats up ink!
