need help with brothers Nikon

My brother call earlier and said, "For some reason I have black spots in parts of my pictures when I have my D90 in playback mode." So I am wondering if anyone knows how to help can fix this? As I know nothing about Nikons, I have a Canon.

Sounds like the lens was dirty or wet (droplets) on it when he was taking the photos. I've had this happen to me a couple times, until you get home and open up on large computer screen, you might not notice. I've made a mental note to always be checking the lens for debris frequently when I'm out shooting.

You may also need to have your sensor cleaned. With a really clean lens take a picture of a white wall and various zooms. If you have the same black spot patterns then you have a sensor issue.
