Spent the day at the park with my wife and learning from what others have commented on with my previous photo's so I thought I would give those tips a try. Please let me know what you think and what I could have done better or what I did right on. Appreciate all comments.

Good lighting & great poses,
In my opinion on the shots...
#1 I think the hair in the face is a little distracting
#2 great..I love the eye contact
#3 beautiful
# 4 I think there is too much background at the top.. would have liked to have seen more of the shoulders.
#5 I like it, but again a little too much background. Maybe crop it in a little closer?;)

#1 - Great tones, but the lighting is a little harsh for this pose.

#2 - Very good. Could be improved with some gentle PP.

#3 - Sorry, I don't get it.

#4 - Crop is too tight on the chin.

#5 - Also very good. Could use fill-in flash, or a reflector.

I can see you are trying different things to avoid the obvious portrait shots, thats good in fact thats very good, dont go to extremes though as you have in the lying down pose, cutting someone in half like that is disturbing especially as its your wife  the first one watch that the head doesnt lean in such a way that you cause those folds at the side of the face they are not enhancing, the others though are great, lovely eye contact a very pretty lady indeed.

She has very pretty eyes. They almost look like they were enhanced in post. Perhaps they should be a little. You seem to like the bottom third of the frame in most of these. I would think bringing the eyes into the upper third would make some of these shots more pleasing. If you are cropping this way it would be easy to adjust. If these are uncropped you might try giving yourself a little more room for after the shot. There are a lot of good aspects to these photos that have already been mentioned. :judge:

Thanks for the comment chasrich. No the eyes were not PP that is what I focused on. I used Silver Exfer for the B&W photos and did a little enhancing of contrast and clarity as well as highlights and shadows. Yes I realize that is what I need to work on is my composition. There was no cropping in any of the photos.

Cheers.

I have found "Master's Posing Guides" from Amherst Media helpful when it come to posing. The images in these guides show some great ways to frame your portrait as well. If you are serious about trying out portrait work take a look through as many posing books & galleries to get ideas on framing your shot. You have a great start & I think with a little pratice on how you frame your shot, you will be more pleased with your outcome.

what do you think of this?

I do like this crop better than the original. Not so sure about the lighting. Nice thing with such a simple pose is that it's easy to experiment by having the subject turn a bit, for different sun angles.
