LensBaby Demo Shots

Went to Central Park yesterday for a B&H Photo Event. Got to borrow a LensBaby "Composer" lens for the day. We broke into groups and got to shoot lots of shots to try it out. The LensBaby is a Ball & Socket Double Glass Optic Lens that allows you to adjust the sweet spot of focus based on where you aim the lens and you can get some nice blur effects.

Gotta say, I liked using it and got the hang of it... below are some of my first photos I took with it. Will post a few more in other topics as I convert from RAW.

Feel free to comment...

Pretty cool. You might try it too when you can w/a more colorful background and see what you get. I've got a couple of older Lensbabies I bought used but so far have just played around with them w//B&W (and haven't gotten further than getting the film developed). It's fun to move the area of focus around to see how the effect looks different ways in an image. The older ones I have are like having little bellows to focus with. I've had fun trying it out, you got some nice portraits esp. of the female model.

I would recomend it... Very interesting effects for sure... It may take a bit to get used to where to look for the focus, once you take it off center... just remember, where ever the lens is pointing, that is where to look in the viewfinder... that will be the sweet-spot.

good luck, and look forward to seeing some of your shots here....

These are good images but I cant decide wether I like lens baby's or not, is it just a toy or is it good for the pro world, I cant decide.

I think it could be great for the Pro Photography World. It definately opens up some possibilities and being able to be creative on the spot... Mind you, I don't know what else is out there that can accompish similar stuff, but having used it now, I would seriously consider buying one to have available...

Don't know if you checked the LensBaby website, but there are plenty of pros out there using it... Check it out if you haven't.
