It was nice to get a little creative with the lighting on this one. The sun was quickly fading before I arrived for this shoot. This was taken in the clients back yard where a lonely station wagon was becoming one with the yard. It's organs had recently been transplanted into an identical twin's chassis in the garage to the right. I contemplated breaking out my background stand and black muslin to completely isolate the subject and car but decided against it. I slapped that ND8 filter on.
Brought my Interfit exd400 light in super close to his face, subject left. This was shot through a medium size softbox.
I used a gridded 430exII behind and subject right for rim at either 1/2 or 1/1 power
gridded 430exII subject left at 1/1 power
sb-28 1/2 in close to grill of car through shoot through umbrella camera right just in front
finally I added fill with another EXD400 through Paul C Buff PLM camera left at 5 ft. with white diffuser cover
I dragged a the shutter a bit to allow for a just a tiny bit of ambient light
