yeah love the B&W conversion but its such a busy background would have prefered it much more blurred

I thought about that as well Gary, but wasn't sure....Im guessing just crop the right side of the frame? I think when I get off work, I will play with the image a little more.

Not really John.
I would tight-crop the left side to his shoulder & maybe a bit
off the top. In a portrait, always give the person some space to look into.
The busy background may be an advantage somewhat here.
You will see after cropping.

Hint: cut a piece of cardboard to an L-shape.
Hold the L-shape to your screen for cropping ideas.

I see what your saying now Gary. I will try that this evening and that is a fantastic idea about using the L-shaped cardboard...Thanks again!!

I just used my hand to block out the left side quick here on my monitor, I see what Gary's saying - the edge of the wall in the background doesn't look exactly perpendicular, so getting that out of the image looks like it would help.

The photo looks more grayscale than B&W; I do a lot of B&W film and have done darkroom work and usually the first thing is to get a 'black-black' and a 'white-white' somewhere in the photo (it may be a small part of the image and there are exceptions) - but if you don't have that the instructor sends you and your print back in to the darkroom... LOL That's what I learned and still use. The converted images seem to come out more grayscale but apparently that can be due to the software used.

Love the face. Nice job capturing that.
